HDS ViewStation Video Operations
HDS ViewStation Multimedia Video is a combination of hardware
and software options, with integrated stereo audio support, for HDS
ViewStation X Window terminals that provide full-motion video within an
X Window. These video options are available with HDSware Version
3.1.0.1 and higher.
Additionally, a software-only version of HDS netVideo, called
netVideo Playback is available for ViewStation FX, ViewStation Dual and
ViewStation Ultra models. This software version can run the HDS netTV
Viewer video client.
HDS netVideo (analog and digital
video) Specifications
The HDS ViewStation with HDS netVideo hardware accepts analog video
inputs in either NTSC, PAL, SECAM composite formats, or SVideo inputs
(also called SVHS signals; this video input uses separate luminance and
chrominance signals). The SVideo signals use a mini-DIN 4 pin connector
on a modified video board.
The ViewStation accepts input from a wide variety of devices
using these formats, including the HDStuner, HDS ViewCam, standard
camcorders, VCRs, and laser disk video players.
HDS netVideo Playback (digital video) Specifications
HDS ViewStation FX, Dual and Ultra models can be ordered with the
HDS netTV Playback software option. This allows these models to receive
multicast audio and video streams from the HDS netTV Simulcast client.
The HDS netTV Playback option requires video software only. It
allows the use of the HDS netTV viewer.
HDSware netVideo Software
HDSware with video software is sold separately from the normal
HDSware server code. It is installed after the normal HDSware server is
installed. You must have HDSware server version 3.1 or higher in order
to load HDS netVideo software.
If you have HDSware 3.1 installed, you can install the HDS
netVideo software, but you will have to edit two lines in the
clients.config file. If you have HDSware 3.1.0.1, this file has been
modified for you. HDSware 3.1.0.1 includes an installation script for
the video software installation.
