Booting with a ViewStation Hard Disk Drive

This page describes booting the ViewStation with a hard disk drive, either as an internal or an external boot.

Using the Hard Disk Drive
The HDS ViewStation's hard disk drive is especially convenient in some system environments, such as remote locations on a PPP link, or isolated environments. The hard disk can be used for booting the individual ViewStation where it is installed and also any other ViewStations. It can serve as the HDSware file server for fonts, local clients, etc.

Internal Booting and File Service
This page describes booting a ViewStation which has an internal hard disk installed.

External Booting and File Service
This page describes booting one ViewStation from another ViewStation which has a hard disk drive installed.
