This
page discusses File Transfer Protocols. These are processes running on
the host computer which transfer files, such as the ViewStation's server
software, font files, and so on, to the ViewStation.
The
ViewStation can use TFTP or FTP or NFS protocols to transfer files. TFTP
is the ViewStation's default file transfer protocol. Note that NFS is
available for initial booting of the ViewStation with HDSware version
3.2 and later.
Two things are necessary to move a file:
1. Correct specification of the file location (check the path and
your entries).
2. Correct operation of the file transfer mechanism.
If the file location is entered correctly, but the file is not
transferred, look at the file transfer mechanism to see where the
problem lies (the protocol may not be running, or there may be security
limitations, read permission problems, etc.). These are discussed on the
pages below.
TFTP (Trivial File Transfer
Protocol)
This page discusses TFTP operation, including examples
for various host computers.
FTP (File
Transfer Protocol)
This page discusses FTP operations, including
Anonymous FTP operation.
NFS (Network
File System)
This page discusses NFS operations, including using
NFS on BSD and SysV UNIX systems.
