This page describes booting from Local Storage on the ViewStation. This
is either FlashPROM or PCMCIA Hard Disk. Both of these storage features
are optional equipment, but are commonly included with ViewStation
configurations.
Booting from FlashPROM or Hard Disk
If
you have FlashPROM or a Hard Disk, all you have to do is turn on the
ViewStation. Its server code is stored in the local memory and is loaded
automatically. It will boot even if it is not connected to the network
or if it doesn't yet have an IP address.
You should see
booting information on the white screen and then the root window and the
Setup Mode icon in the lower right corner. This means the ViewStation
has booted correctly.
If the ViewStation doesn't boot, go to
the Troubleshooting section.
