This
page describes the keymappings the ViewStation uses for HDSterm.
HDSterm is a DEC VT320 terminal emulator and tries to emulate the DEC
keyboard. Since the ViewStation can use a variety of keyboards, there is
sometimes a mapping needed for this keyboard emulation.
VT320
Keyboard Mapping
The HDS ViewStation can use different keyboards, though the most
common types are IBM 101+ and the DEC VT320 type. These keyboards have
different layouts and handle several important keyboard functions in
different ways, specifically, the Numeric keypad, the editing keypad,
and the function keys. HDSterm, as a VT320 emulation, generally expects
these key functions to correspond to DEC keys and key codes.
The HDSterm client allows you to select, from the Customize
Window General dialog box, whether your keyboard (IBM or DEC type)
sends VT320 sequences or the normal keyboard sequences. The "VT On"
selection is recommended for HDSterm for both the IBM and DEC
keyboards. The actual selections and their corresponding sequences are
shown on another pageVT320 Keymappings.
