This page describes password protection of Setup Mode and its
entries.
Setup Mode Password Protection
The password protects sensitive fields in Setup Mode, such as
IP information, fontpaths, etc. These fields cannot be edited except by
entering the password.
Further protection is available by using resources in the
configuration file. The resources: HDSsetup.password.is_global:
yes
HDSsetup.hide_icon: yes
let you make all of the fields in Setup Mode password
protected and then hide the Setup Mode icon (the icon can be restored
by hitting the Setup Mode hotkey, which is Alt-SysRq key in its
default setting).
(For information about the hot key, and
changing its setting, click on ViewStation Special
Keymappings.
Further, entries in the configuration file
override entries in Setup Mode and NVM. In this way, the system
administrator can make settings for the ViewStation that the user
cannot change.
