How to build the server form the sources:

1) Install all X11R4 sources with up to fix-18 applied.

2) go into mit/server/ddx/at386/patches, and apply diff.?????? to the mit-tree.

3) call SetupLinks while beeing in mit/server/ddx/at386/patches.

4) now edit config/at386.cf accoring to your local settings.

5) edit mit/config/Makefile.ini so it contains a valid BOOTSTRAPCFLAGS.
(for ISC 2.0.2 this would be : -DSYSV -DUSG -DISC -DSYSV386)

6) type in mit/config: make -f Makefile.ini

7) edit mit/Makefile so it contains a valid BOOTSTRAPCFLAGS.
(for ISC 2.0.2 this would be : -DSYSV -DUSG -DISC -DSYSV386)

8) now try the usual 'make World'. (gottcha.. This would be to simple ...)
NOTE: for compiling the server & fonts, the shared MUST be installed.

NOTE:

o there are warnings from imake, which normally can be ignored

o there are warnings when building the shared-libs which can be ignored

o the server might only be used if all has been installed properly

o the server may produce unpredictable results if it is not run suid-root.

o You must have a installed libdbm.a (This is the renamed PD libgdbm.a). There
must be /usr/include/ndbm.h installed. Use the same C-compiler for compiling
libgdbm.a as for X11R4. If working with gcc use -fwritable-strings
   -fpcc-struct-return.

o /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc , 75dpi, 100dpi are used, so also if one of these
directories does not contain any font, there must be a fonts.dir in it.
