Mprof contains the malloc source code from the BSD distribution.  The
file malloc.c contains this copyright notice.  Because of this, the
code basically has the same terms as the Berkelely sources, unless you
can get someone at Berkeley to waive the Berkeley copyright on that
particular piece of code.  I have been given permission to make the
malloc.c source available as part of mprof, but I don't think the
redistribution dispensation goes any farther than that.  If you wanted
to liberate mprof from BSD, you could easily replace the malloc.c code
there with another implementation of malloc (for example, from the GNU
project).
