1.0 Introduction
-----------------
This release of Tektronix(R) WinDD 3.0(TM) Service Pack 5 is easy to apply
from within WinDD Version 3.0 and changes only those files that were
originally set up on the WinDD Version 3.0 server system. Service Pack
releases are cumulative: they contain all previous fixes as well as any new
fixes made to the system.

In addition to fixes to the WinDD operating system, this Service Pack
also includes the Multi-Protocol Router (MPR) and updated versions of the
WinDD DOS, Win16, and Win32 clients. The WinDD PC clients are included
as seperate files in the WinDD 3.0 service pack directory. Installation
of the updated PC clients require the original WinDD PC client to first be
installed.

NOTE: This Service Pack requires 12 formatted diskettes if installing
from floppy.

Installation of this Service Pack requires a minimum of 33MB. (If
you are installing the network version, you will also need 15MB for
the self-extracting executable.)

2.0 Installation Instructions for the WinDD Version 3.0 Service Pack
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing the Service Pack from a floppy disk:
1. Execute the WIN3SP5.EXE or the 4 WN3SP5_1.EXE thru WN3SP5_4.EXE
files in a empty directory on your hard drive.
2. Run "FPINST A:" to create the Service Pack update disks
    on disk drive A.
You need twelve preformatted 1.44 MB 3.5" disks for this
procedure.Run the FPINST.EXE program to extract the BAT files.
3. Insert Service Pack Disk 1 into the floppy drive.
4. At the command prompt, change to that floppy drive (that is,
A: or B:) and type UPDATE.
5. Follow the instructions given on the screen.

Readying service pack for hard drive instalation

1. Execute the WIN3SP5.EXE or WN3SP5_1.EXE through WN3SP5_4.EXE
files in a empty directory on your hard drive. WN3SP5_1.EXE
through WN3SP5_4.EXE is the same as WIN3SP5.EXE.
2. Run "HDINST %directory%" to extract the Service Pack
files, where %directory% is the directory that you want
the extracted files to be placed. If no argument is
given after HDINST, then the current directory would be
used to place the extracted files.

Installing the Service Pack from a network drive:

1. If it will be installed from a network drive connect to the
network drive on which the Service Pack files reside.
At the command prompt, type the command to connect to the
network drive on which the Service Pack files reside.
2. Change to that network drive and type UPDATE.
3. Follow the instructions given on the screen.

2.1 Installing the Service Pack on a System with Remapped Drives
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Unlike previous service packs, Service Pack 5 can be installed on
WinDD servers whose host drive letters have been remapped. The
mapping for the original drive C: MUST be the lowest drive letter in
the system; for example:

        C: -> M:
        D: -> N:

An example of a drive mapping scenario in which Service Pack 5 will
fail to install is as follows:

        C: -> Q:     (Note that Q: is NOT lower than P:.)
        D: -> P:

With these mappings, you will receive the following error:

Noncritical Error -- External library procedure ForceFileNoCompress
reported the following error: Out of memory cannot continue.

Tektronix is working on a solution for future Service Pack installations.
As a workaround, temporarily change your drive mapping for the original
drive C: so that it is mapped to the lowest drive letter of all drives.
After the Service Pack is installed, you may restore the drive C: mapping
to its previous setting.

2.2 User Notes
---------------
*** New ROUTE.EXE Command Line Argument

A new command line argument for ROUTE.EXE has been added in Service Pack 5.
The new parameter is METRIC and is described below:

ROUTE [-f] [command [destination] [MASK netmask] [gateway] [METRIC metric]]

METRIC
The metric option is used to associate a cost/hop count for the
destination specified by the route entry. Generally, this specifies the
distance in number of hops from the destination. If not specified, the
metric is set to 1 by default.

*** Emergency Repair Disk

If it is necessary to use the emergency repair disk to repair your
WinDD Version 3.0 system at some time after you apply the Service Pack, you
must reapply the Service Pack when the repair is completed because the
emergency repair disk repairs your system by restoring the original WinDD
Version 1.6 setup. When the repair is done, follow the above Installation
Instructions to reapply the Service Pack.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
When using the WinDD Version 3.0 emergency repair disk to repair your
system after applying the Service Pack, do not repair the file SAMSRV.DLL.
If it is necessary to repair this file because it has become corrupt, you
must replace it with the Service Pack version of the file.

This is necessary because the Service Pack update process changes the user
database, and the Service Pack version of SAMSRV.DLL is needed to allow
the system to function properly.

*** Adding New Components to the System

If software or hardware components are changed or added to your system
after you have applied the Service Pack, you must reapply the service
pack because the files taken from the original WinDD Version 3.0 disk set
may not be equivalent to the files on the Service Pack disk set. It is not
possible to install new components directly from the Service Pack media
(such as a new keyboard or printer driver). New components must be installed
from the original product media.

*** Installing Symbol Files for Service Pack 5

To install the symbol files corresponding to the new binaries in Service
Pack 5, download the SYM530.EXE file and follow the instructions included
within.

*** New APIs Available with Service Pack 5

Service Pack 5 contains three additions to the Win32 API:

Fibers
------
A fiber is a lightweight thread that is manually scheduled. Fibers do not
provide advantages over a well-designed multithreaded application. However,
fibers can make it easier to port applications that were designed to
schedule their own threads.

Specific fiber APIs include:

ConvertThreadToFiber()
CreateFiber()
DeleteFiber()
GetCurrentFiber()
GetFiberData()
SwitchToFiber()

Winsock Enhancement
-------------------
Two new APIs, AcceptEx() and GetAcceptExSockaddrs(), have been added to the
Windows Sockets family. AcceptEx() provides a way to asynchronously accept
a connection, obtain the local and remote addresses for the connection, and
receive the first block of data, all within a single call.

Directory Monitoring
--------------------
One new API, ReadDirectoryChangesW(), has been added to enhance an
application's ability to monitor directories. It allows an application to
receive notification whenever a change occurs in a directory. These
changes include file modifications, renames, and deletions. Unlike
FindFirstChangeNotification(), this API will return the full name of the
affected file.

For complete details on these APIs, including headers, libraries, and sample
code, see the Win32 SDK Addendum for Service Pack 5, available in the "For
Developers Only" section of the Microsoft Web site at
http://www.microsoft.com/devonly.

3.0 New Executables to Assist With Configuration
-------------------------------------------------
FOXPFIX.EXE
-----------
You may want to disable the FoxPro video performance part of this Service Pack.
This would be the case if you noticed (through Performance Monitor) that it was
using much more CPU than before the Service Pack was applied. There is a new
executable that turns a Registry key on or off. The following is used to turn
on the Registry key (the key is turned on when the Service Pack is applied):

     FOXPFIX /ENABLE

The following is used to turn off the Registry key:

     FOXPFIX /DISABLE

The following can be used to determine if the fix is currently enabled:

     FOXPFIX /Q

PERUSER.EXE
-----------
By default, per-user file associations are turned off, because they may make
user profiles grow to 1-2MB. If you have users who require per-user file
associations (for instance, one user wants .DOC files to launch Microsoft Word
but another user wants them to launch the Word Viewer), you can enable per-user
file associations. The following is used to turn on the Registry key (the key
is turned off when the Service Pack is applied):

     PERUSER /ENABLE

The following is used to turn off the Registry key:

     PERUSER /DISABLE

The following can be used to determine if the fix is currently enabled:

     PERUSER /Q

FLATTEMP Usage
--------------
Use the FLATTEMP.EXE utility to enable or disable "flat" temporary
directories. By default, flat temporary directories are disabled. This
means that the system will create a subdirectory under the directory
specified by the TEMP and TMP environment variables that corresponds to
the hexadecimal value of each user's login ID.

For example, if a user logs into WinDD and his login ID is 2 (decimal),
the system creates the directory C:\TEMP\2 (if C:\TEMP is the
directory specified by the user's TEMP environment variable). If a user
logs in and has login ID 10 (decimal), the directory created is
C:\TEMP\A.

By using FLATTEMP to enable flat temporary directories, the system no
longer creates subdirectories under the directory specified by the
user's TEMP environment variable. This could result in users using the
same directory to store temporary files. If flat temporary directories are
enabled, make sure each user is using his/her own specific temporary
directory by setting the TEMP and TMP environment variables in the System
applet in Control Panel.

Usage is as follows:

FLATTEMP - enable or disable flat temporary directories.

[/Q] - query current setting
[/ENABLE] - enable flat temporary directories
[/DISABLE] - disable flag temporary directories
[/?] - display help message

Note that this setting is system global; that is, it applies to all users.

NDSPSVR Usage
-------------
Use the NDSPSVR.EXE utility to enable and disable a preferred server
for NDS logons. Usage is as follows:

NDSPSVR - enable or disable a Preferred Server for NDS logons

[/Q] - query current setting
[/ENABLE:fileservername] - enable Preferred Server [fileservername]
[/DISABLE] - disable Preferred Server
[/?] - display help message

For example, to set the preferred server to a NetWare server named
NW41SERVER, you would type:

     NDSPSVR /ENABLE:NWSERVER41

To disable preferred servers for NDS logons, you would type:

     NDSPSVR /DISABLE

To determine the name of the preferred server (and whether the NDS
preferred server is enabled), you would type:

     NDSPSVR /Q

Note that this setting is system global; that is, it applies to all users.

FIX40PDC Usage
--------------
Use the FIX40PDC utility if your Primary Domain Controller is a Windows NT 4.0
machine. Windows NT 4.0 has greater security on the Registry, preventing users
from reading and corrupting it. One Registry key users need access to is the
Citrix-defined Registry key that stores user configuration data. When logged
on to the WinDD machine as an administrator, run the FIX40PDC.EXE program
with no arguments and the utility will determine whether your PDC is a Windows
NT 4.0 machine. If it is, the utility will fix the Registry entry that gives
access to the Tektronix WinDD user settings. It will report a message as to
what action (if any) it took.

If your PDC is a Windows NT 4.0 machine, it is not necessary to run this
program when you install Service Pack 5, because the program runs automatically
during installation. You will only need to run it if you later upgrade your
PDC to Windows NT 4.0.

Also see section 8.0, below.

4.0 Detailed Hotfix Information
--------------------------------
For detailed Hotfix information, see the enclosed HOTFIXES.TXT file. This
file includes the README.TXT files from all the above-mentioned Hotfixes.

5.0 SecurID Fixes
------------------
1. When reconnecting to a disconnected session, WinDD now prompts for
   SecurID authentication.

2. WinDD can disable third-party authentication on a per-WinStation basis.
From within WINCFG.EXE, an administrator has the option to override third-
party authentication to a WinStation. Edit a WinStation and select the
Advanced Winstation button, then Security, and select "Use Default
   Authentication".

6.0 Installing the Security Utilities Pack with SP5
----------------------------------------------------
If you install the Security Utilities Pack (information about this product
can be found on the Citrix Web site, at http://www.citrix.com/secbeta.htm)
after installing Service Pack 5, you must reinstall Service Pack 5.

7.0 Registry Entries for Microsoft Access and Clientele
--------------------------------------------------------
A problem with Microsoft Access and Clientele not initializing correctly on
large memory systems was fixed by limiting the total physical memory reported
to these applications. A compatibility flag that limits the total physical
memory reported was added for each application. The Registry entries are:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Compatibility\Applications\MSAccess\Flags
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Compatibility\Applications\Mars32\Flags

The value 0x80c was assigned to specify that physical memory reported to these
applications will be limited.

By default, 32MB is the maximum total physical memory reported when the flag
is set. Another Registry entry named PhysicalMemoryLimit can be added for an
application to modify the default value. This Registry value is of type
REG_DWORD and it contains the maximum number of bytes that should be reported
to an application if the physical memory limit flag is set.

For example, the Registry entry for Microsoft Access would be:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Compatibility\Applications\MSAccess\
PhysicalMemoryLimit

If the value of this entry is set to 0x800000, MSAccess would be told the
physical memory available on the system is 8MB.

7.1 Registry Entries for Other Applications
--------------------------------------------
If you have other applications that have problems initializing after
installing Service Pack 5, create a compatibility flag for that application.
If the application is named "myapp.exe", the Registry key would be:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\Compatibility\Applications\myapp\Flags

Flags should be of type REG_DWORD and the value should be 0x80c.

8.0 Required Procedure for Loading User Config From Trusted Domain With
a Windows NT 4.0 Primary Domain Controller on a Trusted Domain
------------------------------------------------------------------------
If your WinDD machine is on one domain and loads user configuration from
a trusted domain whose Primary Domain Controller is a Windows NT 4.0 machine,
you will need to do the following. In order to make this example easier
to read, we will assume that the domain the WinDD machine is on is
PRODUCTION and the trusted domain that the user accounts are on is ACCOUNTS.
The WinDD machine is called WINDD1 and the NT 4.0 PDC on the trusted
