This file contains the latest information relating to the release of Citrix Web-Based ICA Client Installation. Please read this file fully before using Web-Based ICA Client Installation. It contains important information that may be more up to date than other documentation you have available.
This readme file includes the following information:
The instructions provided in the following sections address a typical installation of the ICA Client download site on a Windows NT based Web server. For Web servers other than Windows NT, please consult your Web server documentation.
Web-based ICA Client Installation provides administrators with an ICA client deployment tool. Citrix administrators can now deploy ICA 6.0 Clients from an internal Web server. End users can then connect to this Web server and download the client they need.
Web-based ICA Client Installation consists of two components:
These HTML pages form the browser interface that users see when they access the ICA Client download site. These pages are distributed as a package on the NFuse I.5 CD and are located in the \webinst directory. Alternatively, you can download the package from the Citrix download site (http://download.citrix.com)
Versions of ICA Clients are available for each supported platform, in each supported language. The supported languages are English (en), German (de), French (fr), Spanish (es), and Japanese (ja).
ICA Clients are distributed on the ICA 6.0 Client CD and are located in the \icaweb directory. Alternatively, you can download a client archive for Web-based installation from the Citrix download site (http://download.citrix.com)
Language versions of the NFuse 1.5 CD and the ICA 6.0 Client CD are available on separate CDs; that is, one CD per language.
It is assumed that you already have a Web server up and running, and are familiar with routine installation and configuration tasks.
Users must have a standard Web browser installed on the client device to download an ICA client from the Web server. For example:
Important: \ica60 will be used throughout this document to represent the target directory on the Web server.
xcopy d:\webinst \ica60 /s
In the above command, substitute d: with the drive letter corresponding to your CD-ROM drive.
-or-
Extract the contents of the downloaded archive to \ica60, being careful to ensure that the subdirectory structure is recreated.
For example, PKUNZIP uses the -d parameter to recreate the subdirectory structure. To use PKUNZIP to unzip the archive, change the directory to \ica60 and type the following command:
pkunzip -d <HTML archive>
Delete the HTML archive file when finished.
xcopy d:\icaweb\en \ica60\en /s
In the above command, substitute d: with the drive letter corresponding to your CD-ROM drive; and substitute en (identifier for the English subdirectory) with an alternate 2-letter language directory identifier (de, fr, es, or ja) to specify the correct language version of the client images you need.
-or-
Set up a single language ICA Client download site on your Web server as described previously. To add other language versions of the ICA Clients to the download site, do the following:
xcopy d:\webinst\de \ica60\de /s
In the above command, substitute d: with the drive letter corresponding to your CD-ROM drive; and substitute de (identifier for the German subdirectory) with an alternate 2-letter language directory identifier (en, fr, es, or ja) to specify the correct language version of the HTML pages you need to create
