Usage Notes, Restrictions, and Known Problems
=============================================

This section includes important last-minute notes and tips.
PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING THE PRODUCT.

1. The Citrix XML Service for Windows servers is performance-
    optimized for Windows 2000.

2. NFuse on iPlanet Web Server 4.0 (formerly Netscape Enterprise
    Server 4.0) and iPlanet Web Server 4.1 does not support the
    use of extended characters in user names, domains, and
    passwords; for example, the tilde (~) or accented
    characters. Use of extended characters in user names, domains,
    and passwords on these Web servers results in errors.

3. Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6 cannot be used with the Citrix
    SSL Relay due to incompatibilities between NFuse and the JVM
    included in Netscape Enterprise Server 3.6.

4. By default, iPlanet Web Server Versions 4.0 and 4.1 have the
    "exe" MIME-type associated with CGI scripts. This
    configuration causes NFuse's Web-based ICA Client installation
    feature to fail. When a user visits an NFuse page and attempts
    to install an ICA Client, the Web server attempts to execute
    the ICA Client installation executable as a CGI script instead
    of downloading the file to the user's Web browser. Instead of
    receiving the file, the user sees notification of Internal
    Server Error 500.

    To allow NFuse's Web-based ICA Client installation feature to
    function on iPlanet Web servers, you must modify the server's
    mime.types file. The following change enables HTTP downloads
    of executables. In the mime.types file, change the lines:

        type=application/octet-stream exts=bin
        type=magnus-internal/cgi exts=cgi,exe,bat

    to the following:

        type=application/octet-stream exts=bin,exe
        type=magnus-internal/cgi exts=cgi,bat

5. The Web Server Extension as installed on a Solaris 8 machine
    with JVM 1.2.1.x does not properly execute due to a conflict
    between the JVM and the NFuse socket pooling feature. With
    such a system in use, Web browsers display an error during
    processing of the application list page that states that no
    data can be displayed.

    To make NFuse function on a Solaris 8 machine with a 1.2.1.x
    JVM, you must add the following entry to your NFuse properties
    file: PooledSockets=off. After adding the parameter, you must
    restart your Web server.

    To support socket pooling on Solaris 8, you must use JVM
    Version 1.2.2.x. Citrix has successfully verified execution of
    NFuse with socket pooling enabled on JVM 1.2.2.05a.

    For information on socket pooling and modifying the NFuse
    properties file, see the topic "Configuring Web Server
    Extension Properties" in Chapter 2 of the NFuse
    Administrator's Guide.

6. The Web Server Extension setup program for UNIX Web servers
    does not permit spaces in user input. Entering spaces, for
    example during specification of Web server document root,
    causes the installation to fail.

7. When used with the JBuilder JIT for Linux Apache, NFuse's SSL
    Relay support and the example Web site for folder-based
    filtering cause a segmentation fault in JServ.

8. Web sites with embedded ICA sessions (as opposed to sites that
    launch ICA sessions) produced by the Web Site Wizard use an
    ICA Client that you specify during site creation. Users
    visiting these Web sites may be prompted by Web-based ICA
    Client installation to download and install some other
    supported ICA Client, though the embedding site itself will
    not make use of the suggested ICA Client. Instead, embedded
    sites always attempt to use the ICA Client specified during
    Web site creation for session embedding. For example, if a
    user running a Netscape browser on a UNIX client device visits
    a site that uses the ActiveX Control to embed ICA sessions,
    the site will prompt the user to install the ICA Java Client
    (suggested ICA Client for Netscape browsers on UNIX client
    devices) though the embedding tags will not use the ICA Java
    Client to embed the session.

9. If a user visits an NFuse Web site based upon the HTML for
    Servlets model and then visits a site based on JavaServer
    Pages and does not close the browser in between, the client
    detection cookie associated with Web-based ICA Client
    installation causes errors in client detection. To correctly
    detect ICA Clients in such an environment, the user must close
    and reopen the browser or delete the client detection cookie.

10. If you are using a Netscape iPlanet 4.1 Web server, you must
    modify the NFuse file launch.jsp by replacing the line:

      response.setHeader("Content-Type", parser.getContentType());

    with the following:

      response.setContentType(parser.getContentType());

    The file launch.jsp is included in NFuse example Web sites and
    in application launching sites created by the Web site Wizard.
    If you do not modify this file, the Netscape server sends an
    incorrect mime-type, causing Netscape browsers to display the
    ICA file in a window instead of launching the application.

11. NFuse does not properly launch applications published with
    Display Names of more than 38 characters. When publishing
    applications, make sure the Display Name you give to the
    application contains no more than 38 characters.

12. In the example Web sites included in NFuse 1.51 and any sites
    created by the Web Site Wizard, login form input fields are
    vulnerable to flooding. Users entering inordinately long text
    strings can cause the NFuse Web server to stop responding.

13. If you change the IP address or addresses of a Citrix server
    running the Citrix XML Service, ticketing will not function
    until you reboot the server. After changing a Citrix server's
    IP address or addresses, make sure you reboot the machine.

14. When using Netscape 6 to view NFuse Web sites, the browser
    incorrectly renders the HTML in NFuse's application list page.
    As a result, users may experience application names jumping
    off the page during mouseover events. In addition, users may
    experience unwelcomed frame resizing. You can prevent this
    behavior by modifying the image source tags for NFuse folder
    icons and application icons in the application list page for
    your site. For example, in an Active Server Page site produced
    by the Web Site Wizard, you must change the following two
    image source tags in the file applist.asp:

      <IMG src='nfusemedia/folder.gif' border=0
      align=left hspace=3>

    and

      <IMG SRC="<%=app.getIconFileUrlEncoded%>" border=0
      alt="<%=app.getFriendlyName%>" align=left hspace=3>

    When modifying these image source tags, you must delete the
    text "align=left". With this text removed, the page displays
    correctly.

    Note that the exact text for the align=left code varies by
    type of Web site. When modifying your site, make sure you
    remove instances of left alignment from image source tags for
    NFuse folder icons and application icons.
