Summary:

To combine two or more Microsoft File data files that have the same form but are currently in separate data files, do the following:

Warning: Do not use this procedure on data files that contain picture fields. The graphics located in the picture fields will be lost.

  1. Assume the data files are named A and B (C, D, and so on). Open file B, choose Save Records As from the File menu, and select the Text option. Give the file a new name. If there are more than two files to combine, repeat this procedure with C, etc. (except A) and give each file a unique name.

  2. Open file A.

  3. From the File menu, choose Open Datafile. Select one of the text files previously saved; it is appended to file A.

  4. Find the first new record that was appended and delete it. This is the header record (field names) from the text file.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all the text files are appended to file A.
