SYMPTOMS
When you run ScanDisk with the "Check Files for Invalid File Names" option selected in the ScanDisk Advanced Options dialog box on drives that contain Media Manager folders, you may receive a warning that the hidden property files have invalid file names.
CAUSE
Microsoft Media Manager uses hidden property files to store property information such as annotations and thumbnails. These files may contain names that Scan Disk perceives as being invalid.
RESOLUTION
Use one of the following methods to resolve this problem:
- Click to clear the Check Files for Invalid File Names check box in the ScanDisk Advanced Options dialog box.
- Choose to ignore the warning that ScanDisk gives you.
NOTE: You should not repair or delete these hidden files, or your property information will be lost.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
