SUMMARY

In Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 and 2000, there is no option available that allows you to remove optional components. If you choose to install optional components, such as "Development Tools" or "Full Text" search, you do not have a way to individually remove the components.

MORE INFORMATION

If you select the Uninstall option in the SQL Server setup, all of the SQL Server components are removed. The installation process of SQL Server allows for one of the following methods:
  • Typical
  • Custom
  • Minimal
Based on the type of installation you choose, optional components are installed. The optional components include:
  • Server components
  • Management tools
  • Client connectivity
  • SQL Server Books Online
  • Development tools
Although it is possible to selectively install individual components at different points in time, it is not possible to selectively remove those components.
