SYMPTOMS

Accepts endpoint range for an APPID in DCOMCNFG.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

If the user specifies the range in the static endpoint for an APPID the connection from the client to the server will always fail and returns the error code 0x800706ba.

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Create a server application.
  2. Create a client application to connect the server remotely.
  3. Run DCOMCNFG.
  4. Choose the APPID of the server and specify the port range for static endpoints.
  5. Execute the client and try to connect the application with server. The CoCreateInstanceEx will return RPC_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE.
