WD98: Visual Basic Editor Error Message Starting Word

SYMPTOMS

When you start Word 98 Macintosh Edition, the following error message may appear:

   Visual Basic Editor could not be loaded. There may not be enough
   free memory to load the libraries or files may have been deleted or
   moved from their originally installed locations.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, remove Embedding Preferences and reinstall Office 98 for the Macintosh.

  1. Find the Macintosh HD:System:Preferences folder.

  2. Select the Embedding Preferences file.

  3. On the File menu, click Move To Trash.

  4. Insert the Microsoft Office 98 compact disc (CD) into the CD-ROM drive.

  5. Open the Office Custom Install folder on the Office 98 CD.

  6. Double-click Microsoft Office Installer.

  7. Select the type of installation that you want to perform.
