PRB: Server Object Error: Invalid Class String

CAUSE

The line that is referenced in the error message is this line in the Global.asa file:

   Set DE = Server.CreateObject("DERuntime.DERuntime")
				

When you add a data command to your project, this line gets uncommented in the Application_onStart event handler in the Global.asa file. This line is creating a DE object, which is a special object that exposes an object model for executing commands and managing their results. In order for your Active Server Pages (ASP) pages to run correctly, this object has to be installed on the Web server. This object is located within the DLL Msderun.dll, which gets installed with Visual InterDev. This error occurs when a web application created using Visual InterDev 6 is deployed to a Web server that does not have the server components installed on it.
