SYMPTOMS

When you view Contacts in a table view in Microsoft Outlook, you are unable to edit certain fields.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, open the Contact item to edit the field.

MORE INFORMATION

To edit Contact fields in a tabular view, you must have the Allow in-cell editing option selected. Even with this option selected, some fields cannot be edited in the cell. Examples are the File As and E-mail fields.

How to selecting in-cell editing

  1. In Outlook 2000 and in Outlook 2002, point to Current View on the View menu, and then click Customize Current View.

    In Outlook 2003, point to Arrange By on the View menu, point to Current View, and then click Customize Current View.
  2. In the View Summary dialog box, click Other Settings.
  3. In the Rows area, click to select the Allow in-cell editing check box.
