SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to install FrontPage 98 for Windows to a Netscape Software Multi-Homed server, on either an Windows NT or UNIX platform, it will fail if you are using Software Virtual Servers on a Netscape Web server.

CAUSE

FrontPage does not support the "home-page" method of software multi-homing Netscape servers.

WORKAROUND

Use the "document-root" method of software multi-homing the Netscape server or use Hardware multi-homing (where each virtual server has its own IP address).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FrontPage 98 for Windows.

MORE INFORMATION

In a "home-page" method of software multi-homing there is a line in the obj.conf for each virtual server as follows:
   <Client urlhost="www.website.com">
   NameTrans fn="home-page" path="website3/index.html"
   </Client>

In a "document-root" method of software multi-homing there is a line in the obj.conf for each virtual server as follows:
   <Client urlhost="www.website.com">
   NameTrans fn="document-root" path="/usr/netscape/suitespot/docs"
