SYMPTOMS
Crawling a SQL Server database fails with the following error in the
Gatherer log:
<URL>, "PRTH_E_ACCESS_DENIED: -2147216891".
RESOLUTION
If the permissions are incorrect in the SiteServer/Knowledge directory, do
the following:
- Go to the IIS snap-in.
- Bring up the Default Web Site.
- Make sure the Directory Security is set to Basic (Clear Text) and
Windows NT Challenge and Response
Note: Only set Windows NT Challenge and Response if this is a Windows
NT (Intranet) instance.
Also, Make sure the SQL Server account set during the Catalog Build Wizard
is valid and has the correct permissions.
NOTE: SQL or ODBC compliant crawls only exist in the Search Web
Administration interface.
Go to:
where <computer name> is the Search server where the catalog will be
created.
