SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to synchronize the Take Control System Controller (TC1000) with your computer, you may receive the following error message:
TC1000 must be connected to your computer in order for you to continue.
Connect TC1000 to your computer now and make sure TC1000 is active by touching the touchscreen.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if Microsoft Windows CE Services is installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, configure Windows CE Services to enable the Auto Connect feature only while the Mobile Devices folder is open. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Windows CE Services, and then click Mobile Devices.
  2. Click File, and then click Communications.
  3. On the Communications tab, click Auto Connect.
  4. Click to select the Only while the Mobile Devices window is open (I may need to use my COM Port for another purpose) option.
  5. Click OK, and then click OK again.
  6. Restart the computer.

MORE INFORMATION

When you configure Windows CE Services in this manner, you must open the Mobile Devices folder before you connect the Windows CE device to the computer if you want to synchronize the device with the computer automatically.
