IntelliPoint: Tips.exe Causes Access Violation in Windows NT

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to access the Productivity Tips included with the Microsoft IntelliPoint software on a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based computer, you may receive an "Access Violation in Tips.exe" error message.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you install Microsoft Windows NT Service Pack 4 (SP4). Tips.exe is not compatible with Windows NT Service Pack 4.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the Microsoft IntelliPoint software version 2.2d.

The IntelliPoint software version 2.2d is available as a free download from the following Microsoft Web site:
