SYMPTOMS

When you send a fax message to one of your Contacts using Symantec Fax Starter Edition (FSE) in Microsoft Outlook 2000, it is not transmitted as a fax, but instead is sent as an e-mail message.

CAUSE

The Contact that you are sending the fax to has both an e-mail address and a fax number, and FSE is not your default messaging account.

RESOLUTION

Use one of the following methods to send your message:

You can have multiple accounts in Outlook, but only one can be the default messaging account at any one time. To make an account the default, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  2. In the Internet Accounts Manager, click the Mail tab.
  3. Click the desired account name, click Set As Default, and click Close.
