SYMPTOMS

When you use Windows Media Player to play a multimedia file stored on a local hard disk, the Skip Back, Rewind, Fast Forward, and Skip Forward buttons may be unavailable.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, use Microsoft Media Player instead of Windows Media Player to open and play the multimedia file. For additional information about how to do so, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

MORE INFORMATION

Windows Media Player uses the Active Movie control file (Amovie.ocx), and Microsoft Media Player uses the Mplayer.exe file.
