SYMPTOMS
In the event log, you will see the following error:
>The description for Event ID ( 1003 ) in Source ( Authentication ) could >not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): sql error >IM002: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no >default driver specified.
CAUSE
There is incorrect information in the Highlander database AuthDB in the DSNInfo table.
RESOLUTION
Make sure the DSNInfo table has the correct DSN name, user name, and password. The table should look like the following entry:
0 authdsn cdeluca2 Authdb authuser authuser
1 authdsn cdeluca2 Authdb authuser authuser
2 authdsn cdeluca2 Authdb authuser authuser
....continue through....
1023 authdsn cdeluca2 Authdb authuser authuser
STATUS
This is caused by changing information once the system has gone live in one place but not the other, or setting up the database incorrectly in the first place.
MORE INFORMATION
Use ISQL/w to query the SQL database. Connect to the appropriate server, using the proper user name, password combo. Change the default database to the AuthDB (use the pull down combo box labeled DB). Enter the following query: Select * from DSNInfo. Click the 'Execute' button and observe the results in the Results window. Make sure the information is similar in nature to the example provided above.
