WD97: How to Set the Default File Path Using VBA

By default, Word 97 uses the default file path set on the File Locations tab (on the Tools menu, click Options) when first using the Open and Save or Save As dialog boxes.

The following sample macro changes the current directory to "C:\MyFolder" and sets that directory as the default.

  Sub ChangeFileOpenPath()
      ChangeFileOpenDirectory "C:\My Folder"
      Options.DefaultFilePath(wdDocumentsPath) = CurDir
      With Dialogs(wdDialogFileOpen)
      .Show
      End With
   End Sub
				

NOTE: You can omit the lines from "With Dialogs" through "End With" if you do not want to display the Open dialog box.
