Small Business Server 4.0 FREE Internet Technologies Offer

Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server versions 4.0 and 4.0a

SUMMARY

Effective September 28, 1998, Microsoft will offer the Windows NT Option Pack, Proxy Server 2.0 Upgrade, and installation white paper free to all Small Business Server 4.0 customers. This offer is available in the U.S. and Canada. (International customers will receive it on local subsidiary discretion.) The following information details why this is being offered and outlines steps to request the upgrade.

As another example of Microsoft being responsive to the needs of our Value Added Provider (VAP) community we are providing this one time product enhancement offer. VAPs told us that Internet functionality is a critical solution for our mutual Small Organization (SORG) customers and that Small Business Server is the only small business solution recognizing this customers need (NetWare for Small Business has no internet access capabilities).

In addition, Proxy 2.0 is required for year 2000 compliance and it is the only Small Business Server year 2000 component upgrade with an associated acquisition fee. For those Small Business Server 4.0 customers who require year 2000 compliance, we want to minimize barriers.

This offer will run from September 28, 1998, until the next release of Small Business Server. Windows NT Option Pack is required for Proxy 2.0.

Customers requesting the upgrade should send or fax in the following items: qualifying proof of purchase, sales receipt showing purchase of SBS and the SBS box top or CD Key as well as payment for shipping and handling (U.S. $7.50/CND $10.00).
