FP1: Garbled Text After Opening Web Page in SimpleText Program |
Q192571
When opening some files using the SimpleText program as your default editor, you may see many odd characters rather than your HTML file.
This behavior occurs if the file you opened doesn't have a file type associated with it. When a file doesn't have a file type associated with it, the file type is assumed to be "text." Therefore, if you open a non-text file that is associated with a text file type in SimpleText, SimpleText is unable to determine the correct file type and displays "garbled" text.
Close the file without saving it to retain your original file.
SimpleText is manufactured by Apple Computer Inc., a vendor independent

product's performance or reliability.
