SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start Internet Explorer or Outlook Express for Sun Solaris on an UltraSparc 5 or UltraSparc 10, any or all processes associated with your login, including Window Manager, may stop responding (hang).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain one of the following patches from Sun Microsystems:

  • For Solaris 2.5.1, patch 103792-14 is required.
  • For Solaris 2.6, patch 105362-13 is required.
These patches and their corresponding Readme files can be obtained from Sun Microsystem's Web site. If you do not have a Sun service contract with access to the complete patch collection, you need to contact Sun to obtain the appropriate patch.

Note that the patch revision numbers may be changed by Sun at any time. These revisions have been tested. Other revisions may or may not work.

MORE INFORMATION

The patches discussed in this article are manufactured by a vendor independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these patches' performance or reliability.
