BUG: Recordset onafteropen Does Not Fire

SYMPTOMS

One of the following occurs:
  • Recordset1_onafteropen() used to fire, but it does not fire any more.
  • onafteropen is defined in Recordset.htm, but you do not see it in the script library and you cannot get it to run.

CAUSE

Only events that are common to Active Server Pages and Dynamic HTML are supported. onafteropen is not supported.

RESOLUTION

If you want to fire an onafteropen event on a Dynamic HTML page, use advise() before opening the recordset.

Example:

Recordset1.advise("onafteropen", "Recordset1_onafteropen()");

NOTE: There is no corresponding onafteropen event on Active Server Pages.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
