SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project 98, when you open a consolidated project you may
receive a message indicating that your computer has run out of memory.
Microsoft Project stops responding and you receive the either of the
following error messages.
Windows 95
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the Problem persists, contact the program vendor.
When you click Details, you receive the following error message:
WINPROJ caused an invalid page fault in module WINPROJ.EXE at <address>.
Windows NT
An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.
Winproj.exe
Exception: access violation: <number>, Address: <address>
CAUSE
This problem may occur when you open a consolidated project and the
Calculation option is set to Manual.
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, install Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, Service
Release 1 (SR-1).
To temporarily work around this behavior if you do not have SR-1, change
the
Calculation option to
Automatic. To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Calculation tab.
- Under Calculation, click Automatic. Click
OK.
STATUS
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Project 98 for Windows, ServiceRelease 1 (SR-1).
