FIX: Access Violation Occurs with Some Cursors on Derived Table
Article ID: 188328
Article Last Modified on 3/14/2006
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 Standard Edition
This article was previously published under Q188328
BUG #: 18014 (SQLBUG_65)
SYMPTOMS
If you use a keyset, dynamic, or forward-only cursor on a query that is
based on a derived table, an access violation (AV) may occur. Insensitive cursors do not cause the access violation. On the client, the query will not complete, and when the query is canceled, the following error message is displayed:
Query canceled by User
DB-Library: Possible network error: Error in sending out-of-band
data to SQL Server.
Net-Library error 232: ConnectionWrite (GetOverLappedResult()).
WORKAROUND
To avoid the access violation, either do not use a derived table or change the cursor type to insensitive.
