WD97: Heading Styles Reset After Applying Heading Level Numbering

SYMPTOMS

When you redefine heading styles Heading 2, Heading 3, and greater to include an indentation and then apply heading numbering to the document, Microsoft Word resets the user-defined heading styles to their original indentation.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, redefine the heading styles after applying heading numbering.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
