SYMPTOMS

While you are running a report in Analysis Report Writer, a Dr. Watson is invoked. A c0000005 error code is reported for an unknown process.

To further verify whether this is a problem on a system, do the following:

The Drwtsn32.log file contains a log of all application exceptions that have occurred on a system unless otherwise configured.

Search for all instances of the word "FAULT" in Drwtsn32.log. Compare the assembly code surrounding the instances of the word "FAULT" to see whether the code matches the assembly code below:

CAUSE

An integer variable is being overrun because it is defined as too small a data type. The variable has been redefined as a larger data type.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the following fix or wait for the next Microsoft Site Server 3.0 service pack.

The fix should have a minimum version of 794.27 on the following files:

   Report.exe
   ReportUI.exe


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Site Server version 3.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix.
