DHCP Server Misses Client Reservation

SYMPTOMS

It is possible, when you run DHCP server and many reservations are being used, that a particular client reservation will not be included in the reservation list. One reservation in the series will be missed.

CAUSE

There is a logic error in the DHCP service DLL that results in the last item in a series being missed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, contact Microsoft Technical Support to obtain the following fix, or wait for the next Windows NT service pack.

This fix should have the following time stamp:

   04/29/98  12:26p               119,568 Dhcpssvc.dll (Intel)
   04/29/98  01:20p               190,736 Dhcpssvc.dll (Alpha)

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 4.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next service pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
