SYMPTOMS
When you try to scroll in Compton's 1996 Encyclopedia by
using the Microsoft IntelliMouse wheel, you may receive an application
error.
This symptom only occurs on computers that are running
Microsoft Windows NT 4.0.
CAUSE
This issue occurs because Compton's 1996 Encyclopedia does
not have built-in support for wheel scrolling. Additionally, the Universal
Scrolling feature of the IntelliPoint software does not work in Compton's 1996
Encyclopedia.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, disable Universal Scrolling for
Compton's 1996 Encyclopedia by adding the program to the Exceptions For
Universal Scrolling list. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to
Settings, and then click Control
Panel.
- Double-click Mouse, and then click the
Wheel tab.
- In the Universal Scrolling area, click
Exceptions.
- Click Add, and then locate the executable
file for Compton's 1996 Encyclopedia.
- Click this executable file, and then click
Open.
- Click Close, and then click
OK.
- Quit Control Panel.
