PRJ: No Calculate Prompt After Change If Calculation Is Manual

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when Calculation is set to Manual and you make a change, "Calculate" might not appear in the status bar.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when all of the following conditions are true:
  • Calculation is set to Manual.

  • You change an inserted project's task, resource, or assignment information from within a consolidated project.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods:

  • Calculate the project by pressing F9 when you make any changes to an inserted project.

    -or-

  • Make the changes to the original inserted project, rather than to the same project that is inserted within the consolidated file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft Project listed above.
