PATCH: Msenv.exe File to Fix Improper Time Bomb on VI 6 Preview
Last reviewed: September 2, 1998 |
The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARYThe Visual InterDev 6.0 March Pre-Release, obtained through http://www.microsoft.com or on a promotional CD, may improperly execute the "time bomb" that is designed to prevent the software from operating after general product availability. This problem can sometimes occur even if the system clock was never set past that date. To prevent this problem, a new file has been created and can be downloaded and installed on PCs with the Visual InterDev 6.0 March Pre-Release. To implement this fix, search the hard drive that Visual InterDev 6.0 has been installed on for Msenv.dll. Replace it with the version of Msenv.dll referenced here. This file is provided without distribution rights. That is, it cannot be re- distributed beyond the PC that you wish to implement the fix for. The End User License Agreement that you received with Visual InterDev 6.0 Public Preview also applies to this new file. This file also is applicable only to the Visual InterDev 6.0 March Pre- Release. The retail version of Visual InterDev 6.0 will not have a time bomb, nor will this pre-release DLL work with other Visual InterDev 6.0 retail files.
