FP98: Netscape Does Not Display Page, System Resources Diminish

SYMPTOMS

When you use Netscape Navigator version 4 or later to view a FrontPage Web page, you may experience the following symptoms:
  • Your page appears blank.

    -and-
  • Processor usage increases to 100 percent.

    -and-
  • Virtual memory usage increases to 100 percent.

    -and-
  • Netscape Navigator stops responding (hangs).

    -and-
  • An error appears indicating that your system is running low on resources (Windows NT only).

    -or-
  • System performance begins to degrade.

CAUSE

Netscape Navigatior 4.0 and later do not support an apostrophe in a hyperlink that contains an inline style.

This behavior occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • You are viewing the page from Netscape Navigator version 4.0 or later.

    -and-
  • The hyperlink reference (HREF attribute of the anchor tag) contains an apostrophe.

    -and-
  • The anchor (<A>) tag contains a STYLE attribute (inline style).

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods:
