BUG: Correlated Subquery Using EXISTS and UNION Can Cause an Access Violation

SYMPTOMS
A correlated subquery that uses the EXISTS and UNION clauses may fail with
an access violation (AV).
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, restructure the query so that the EXISTS and
the UNION clause is avoided. You may want to explore the use of joins or
multiple queries.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server version 6.5. We
are researching this problem and will post new information here in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
