SYMPTOMS

If you click the Style button to remove borders in a frameset, the page will appear as a blank page when viewed in Netscape Navigator. In contrast, the page will appear correctly in Microsoft Internet Explorer.

NOTE: To locate the Style button, right-click the frame and then click Frame Properties on the menu that appears.

CAUSE

When you click the Style button, FrontPage creates code that Netscape cannot interpret.

RESOLUTION

To fix the page so that it will appear correctly in Netscape Navigator, follow these steps for each frame in the frameset.
  1. Right-click the frame, and then click Frame Properties.
  2. In the Frame Properties dialog box, click Style.
  3. Click the Class tab and delete all values from each of the boxes on this tab. Repeat this step for each tab (Alignment, Borders, Font, Colors, and Text) in the Style dialog box.
  4. Click OK two times.
  5. On the File menu, click Save.
To remove the borders from the frameset, follow these steps:
  1. On the Frame menu, click Frame Page Properties.
  2. Click to clear the Show Borders check box.
  3. Click OK.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
