SYMPTOMS

When you run Microsoft Office Installer, a mouse pointer that looks like a static beach ball appears the end of the installation process. This pointer may cause you to think that the installation process has halted.

NOTE: When this problem occurs, you are prompted to continue running the Microsoft Office Installer or quit the program.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, click Continue to install additional programs, or click Quit to quit the installer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Although the pointer should appear, it does not. This is not an indication that the installation program has stopped responding; you can use the cursor as you normally would.
