Make sure it has not been renamed or deleted.

The macro could not be recorded.
CAUSEThe Embedding Preferences file, Registration Database file, or the PPC Registration Database file is damaged. NOTE: Depending on which system and/or programs you have installed on your computer, you may not have a Registration Database.
RESOLUTIONDelete the Embedding Preferences file, the Registration Database or the PPC Registration Database. To delete these files, follow these steps:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
MORE INFORMATIONThe problem has also been reproduced if certain Visual Basic files are moved or copied from their originally installed locations. If you click on the VBA Extensibility Library, VBA Vocalization Library, or VBA Object Library inside the Office 98:Office folder, the following message is displayed:
This file adds functionality to your computer. To add this file's functionality to your computer, place the file in the Extensions folder or drop it on your closed System Folder icon.If you actually moved any of these files to any folder, you will receive the error mentioned above. Moving these files back to the Office 98:Office folder or to the System folder does not eliminate the error when trying to open Word. This is why it is necessary to reinstall Office 98 so that the files can be installed to their proper locations and can be registered.
