FIX: Application Hangs When RasDial Is Used in a Service
Article ID: 181517
Article Last Modified on 10/15/2002
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Windows NT Workstation 4.0 Developer Edition
This article was previously published under Q181517
SYMPTOMS
When you use RasDial() in a stand-alone application and an invalid username
or password is supplied, the following error message appears:
ERROR_AUTHENTICATION_FAILURE
However when an application calls RasDial() to dial in a service with an
invalid username or password, you get an Access Violation at location
0000:0000.
RESOLUTION
You must ensure that a valid username and password is either hard-coded,
or, if you have a GUI, then you need to prompt the users to enter a valid
username and password in order to prevent the application from hanging.
STATUS
This problem was corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000.
