SYMPTOMS

In Internet News Server (INS), the moderator receives an e-mail message when an article without approved header arrives on a peer feed.

CAUSE

INS erroneously sends e-mail to the newsgroup moderator when an article arrives without an approved header on a peer feed.

RESOLUTION

The server will now only notify moderators for client's posts that lack approved headers; if an article arrives from any kind of feed without an approved header, the article is accepted and the moderator is not notified.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in MCIS version 1.0. A supported fix is now available, but has not been fully regression-tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. Unless you are severely impacted by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Service Pack that contains this fix. Contact Microsoft Technical Support for more information.
