NetMeeting Message Incorrectly States That Audio Cannot Be Used

Last reviewed: November 12, 1997

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft NetMeeting versions 2.0, 2.1 for Windows 95
  • Microsoft NetMeeting versions 2.0, 2.1 for Windows NT 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you use NetMeeting 2.0 or 2.1 without audio or video capabilities to call a participant who is using NetMeeting 1.0 with audio capabilities, you may receive the following message when the participant accepts the call:

The person you called accepted the call, but is not able to
use Microsoft NetMeeting's audio and video features.

MORE INFORMATION

This message may be misleading because the NetMeeting 1.0 participant is able to use the audio features of NetMeeting, but is unable to use the video features. Video is not supported in NetMeeting 1.0.

Although you are unable to send audio or video, you are able to receive audio from the NetMeeting 1.0 participant if a supported sound card is installed in your computer, and speakers or headphones are connected to the sound card.
