SYMPTOMS
When you insert an a with an acute accent
(') above it (ASCII 0225 symbol) in a Word document, the area where the "a"
should be is blank or is formatted as a gray dotted box.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the text is formatted with the MS LineDraw font.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use either of the following methods.
Method 1: Use the Keyboard to Insert the Symbol
To do this, press ALT+0225.
NOTE: You must use the numeric keypad to type the numbers.
Method 2: Use a Different Font
To do this, follow these steps:
- On the Insert menu, click Symbol.
- In the Font box, select a font other than MS LineDraw.
- Find the accented a, select it, and then
click Insert.
Method 3: Use a Keystroke
To do this, follow these steps:
- Press CTRL+Apostrophe.
- Type the letter a.
