Game Pad Buttons Appear Black Instead of Yellow During Test

The information in this article applies to:

SYMPTOMS

When you test the SideWinder game pad in the Game Controllers tool in Control Panel, the directional pad and buttons appear black instead of yellow.


CAUSE

This problem occurs if your video display driver conflicts with the SideWinder Game Device software.


RESOLUTION

Contact your video card manufacturer for an updated version of your display driver.


MORE INFORMATION

This problem has been reported with the Matrox Millennium video adapter using driver version 4.03.00.3300 and earlier. Updating to a later Matrox Millennium display driver corrects this problem.
