SYMPTOMS

When you try to uninstall NetMeeting, you may receive the following error message:

   INF install failure. Reason: Access is denied.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you are not logged on to your Windows NT-based computer as an administrator.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to your computer as an administrator.

  2. If you have previously tried to uninstall NetMeeting without administrator permissions, you must first install NetMeeting before you can uninstall it. To install NetMeeting, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

          http://www.microsoft.com/netmeeting
    

    If you did not previously try to uninstall NetMeeting without administrator permissions, continue to the next step.

  3. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double- click Add/Remove Programs.

  4. On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft NetMeeting 2.0 in the list of installed programs, and then click Add/Remove.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft NetMeeting 2.0 for Windows NT 4.0.
