SUMMARYMSN, The Microsoft Network, version 2.5 uses a new Internet e-mail system that enables you to use e-mail programs such as Microsoft Internet Mail and News or Microsoft Outlook Express with MSN.
MORE INFORMATIONThe new Internet e-mail system does not affect the normal usage of your e- mail account. Your receiving e-mail address remains "<member_id>@msn.com." The only difference with the new e-mail system is that "classic" is added to your sending e-mail address. When you send e-mail, the recipient sees your address as "<member_id>@classic.msn.com." For example, if your MSN Member ID is Bob, people to whom you send e-mail see your address as "Bob@classic.msn.com." People who send you e-mail can address the message to either "Bob@msn.com" or "Bob@classic.msn.com." Again, this does not affect the normal usage of your e-mail account. This is simply a mechanism used on our servers to ensure a higher level of e-mail performance.
Effects on Internet ServicesIf you subscribe to Internet services such as mailing lists, listserv, listproc, or majordomo, you can still receive e-mail from these services, but you may be unable to send e-mail. Some Internet services use your e- mail address to authenticate e-mail you send. Changing your sending e-mail address from "<member_id>@msn.com" to "<member_id>@classic.msn.com" may affect this process. If you receive mail only from Internet services, this change does not affect you. If you are no longer able to send e-mail to an Internet service, cancel your current subscription and resubscribe using your new sending e-mail address. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
